 SURVEY METHODOLOGY

Each student was given 5 questionnaires and were asked to administer the same to five adults, one being his/her own parent.
Once the data was collected, they sat in their respective groups, compiling the findings and preparing a Question-wise Analysis.
The Group leaders then handed over their findings to the person in charge of the final compilation.

SURVEY REPORT

On compilation of the data, it was found that almost everyone is aware of the precautions that one has to take in case of a fire mishap. They also knew the preventive measures.
For the first question , out of a total of 230 people, only 36 have had one or the other  kind of calamity in their respective houses and out of that majority are due to bursting of crackers or the bursting of the pressure cooker.
It was heartening to note that only very few people had sustained fire injuries and that too minor ones. This shows that almost all are careful while handling fire. Among those who had been injured, most of them resorted to first aid treatments at home. Those who had gone to the doctor had done so out of fear of the burn leaving a scar later.
Almost all recommend showing the burnt part under a tap. This is again the best first-aid that one can give in case of a fire burn.
Only 33 people were not aware of the fact that one should not pour water in order to put down an electric fire. They were sensitized regarding this.
The fire safety norms are adhered to in almost all the places of work.
Just a handful, 10 people, did not know the contact number for calling the Fire Engine in case of emergency. In two groups all the people knew the number.
Similarly, almost all have experienced gas leakages of different kinds in their houses. But they have sought the help of the experts and have not meddled with it on their own.
In short, the basic aim of the survey could be achieved. Wherever there were shortcomings, we took the upper hand and created the awareness.
In short it was not only an enjoyable activity, but also an ennobling one !!!!

WHAT I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT MY PROJECT- PBL VII C (1)

The Teacher Speaks

It was with a lot of hesitation that I embarked on the Project. I was not sure of my direction and was groping in the dark, unable to arrive at the WHAT, WHY, HOW, WHERE and WHEN of the Project. The topic had been imprinted somewhere in the subconscious.

But once I shared my apprehensions with Class VII C, the Jigsaw puzzles started falling into the right slots. Though we initially started with nine topics, it got increased day by day. And the most encouraging factor was that all the students took part in the endeavour, some exhibiting extra enthusiasm and others falling in tune with the rest.
The responses were quick and the short-term deadlines were met with accuracy. First we had planned to make a Manuscript Magazine, but gave up the idea for want of time. Anyway, after the Project got midway, the editing sessions used to extend till midnight. But then I really enjoyed every bit of it. The motivation for the additional topics and the improvisations were taken in with utmost sincerity. I too could learn quite a lot about fire, not to speak about the technology- inserting pictures in a Blog, creating a Blog, publishing the findings and what not. The 3 interviews and the interaction with the firemen from the Kanjikode Fire Station were conducted successfully. The Survey was also conducted within a short span.

Though there were offshoots of misgivings from here and there at times, in all it was a SUPERB EXPERIENCE. I am looking forward to more experiences of the kind in future.
